These are my recommendations for books and specific editions of them. When I buy a book I want a nicely bound one, hardback if it’s available. I’d rather have a good book that’s well made than one that will fall apart in a few years, so I try to find the best one available. That’s what I list here. It’s a work in progress, and there’s more to come, so keep checking back for updates.

Biographies:

Ten Great Christian Biographies, Dr. Al Mohler’s top 10

Classics:

Pilgrim’s Progress (Oxford Edition), by John Bunyan. Every Christian must read this book. Period. This edition is recommended by Derek Thomas due to the extensive and helpful notes on the text.

Iliad and Odyssey (box set), Nicely bound paperbacks of Robert Fagles’ widely acclaimed NIV-style translation of Homer.
